FAQ
What everyone asks.
Short, honest answers. If something depends on the booking channel or isn’t published, we say so — no spin.
Arriving & leaving
What time are check-in and check-out?
Per Hostelworld, check-in runs 14:00–23:00 and check-out is by 11:00 (Booking.com lists times half an hour later). Arriving early or leaving late? Message us and we’ll sort it out.
Can I arrive late at night?
The house’s listings mention a 24-hour front desk and no curfew. Still, send us your estimated arrival time on WhatsApp so someone is expecting you.
Can I leave my luggage before or after my stay?
Yes — luggage storage is listed on the booking platforms. Arrange timing with the team.
How do I get here from the airport?
El Dorado airport is about 13 km away (per Booking.com). By taxi or ride app, the house suggests coming in via Avenida Circunvalar/Carrera 1. By TransMilenio, the nearest stops are Las Aguas and Museo del Oro, about 11 minutes’ walk, uphill. Ask us for the exact pin on WhatsApp.
Rooms
Do rooms have a private bathroom?
No. Every published room — private or dorm — uses a shared bathroom, with shower and hairdryer per Booking.com.
Is the dorm mixed? Is there a female dorm?
The published dorms are 4-bed mixed. No female-only dorm is listed — if you need one, ask us.
Are towels and bedding provided?
Booking.com lists bedding and towels, though for some rooms it notes towels or sheets may cost extra. Check when you ask.
Is it cold at night? Is there heating?
Bogotá is cool all year: it averages around 13 °C and early mornings are usually 8–10 °C (IDEAM data). Rooms don’t list heating — the lounge does have a stone fireplace — so pack layers and ask about extra blankets.
Can rooms be reached without stairs?
Booking.com marks some rooms (the deluxe double and the double-plus-single triple) as reachable by stairs only. If you need step-free access, ask before booking.
Services
Is there Wi-Fi? Is it good for work?
Yes, there’s free Wi-Fi for guests. Speeds aren’t published — if you rely on video calls, ask the team before booking.
Is breakfast included?
Breakfast isn’t listed as included. The house café has had breakfast on its menu (as it showed in 2023) — ask what’s on today and the price.
Is there a guest kitchen?
Current listings don’t include a guest kitchen, so best not to count on one. For food there’s the house café, and La Concordia market is five minutes away.
Is there laundry?
Laundry service is listed on the platforms. Ask the team about price and turnaround.
Are pets allowed?
Per Booking.com, pets aren’t allowed.
Is there parking?
No parking is listed. La Candelaria’s streets are narrow — if you’re driving, ask about nearby options first.
Booking & payment
How do I book directly?
Message us on WhatsApp with your dates, number of guests and room (this site’s form writes the message for you). The team replies with availability and the total price. What you send is an inquiry — the booking only stands once the team confirms it.
Can I book on Booking.com or Hostelworld?
Yes, the house is on both. This site isn’t synced with them, so prices and terms can differ by channel.
Which payment methods do you take?
It depends on the channel: Booking.com says cash only, while Hostelworld mentions cash and cards. Confirm with the team when you book.
What’s the cancellation policy?
It varies by where you book — the platforms show different deadlines. For direct bookings, ask about the terms before confirming.
Do prices include taxes?
It depends on the channel and your situation — Hostelworld, for example, shows an extra 19 % charge. The team gives you the total when replying to your inquiry.
The neighbourhood
What’s La Candelaria like at night?
It’s the historic centre: buzzing by day, quieter at night. As in any big-city centre, keep an eye on your things, avoid empty streets late and take a taxi or ride app after dark. The team is happy to suggest routes.
How far is Monserrate?
The cable car and funicular station is about 1.7 km away (≈22 minutes on foot, mostly uphill). At the top you’re at 3,152 m.
